Gourmet Gaming is Daniella Zelli’s yummy creation. She’s a been a gamer all her life and foodie as well, and had the deliciously brilliant idea to combine those two loves; and so Gourmet Gaming was born! Gourmet Gaming is “a website dedicated to food featured in video games. The idea is to replicate these foods in real life by creating recipes.”
On Gourmet Gaming Daniella includes recipes and directions if you’re in the mood to cook up some gamer grub for yourself! I know first hand that baking a replica of something isn’t always as easy as it looks but it was still fun and I’m sure you’ll have fun too! Check out the interview with gamer chef below and find out more about Gourmet Gaming, her game of the year and what she geeks out for!
Girl Gone Geek: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Daniella: I grew up in Ireland and have been playing games since I was about 4 years old, the first console I owned was a Sega Mega Drive. I moved to London in 2006 and attended art school where I studied Illustration and for the past 3 years I’ve been living in Edinburgh as a freelance graphic artist and digital designer.
GGG: What is Gourmet Gaming’s origin story?
D: I had some friends over to play the amazing Deadly Premonition, I served some Sinner’s Sandwiches to eat while we played and I guess it grew from there! I also couldn’t find a job so it was the perfect project to occupy my time, I really didn’t think it would become so popular but I’m very happy it has.
GGG: Do you have any funny baking/cooking crafting stories?
D: I don’t really have any funny stories, more so chaotic ones that involve tears over runny strawberry compote and a seemingly endless night of making a Minecraft Cake icing template… It was worth it in the end though!
GGG: What have been some of your favourite dishes to make?
D: I loved making the Costume Quest ‘Creepy Treats’, they weren’t like anything else so it was fun to come up with ideas for what they might be – Double Fine are always so great with their imagination, it’s as if that game was made for Gourmet Gaming. But as long as it’s tasty, it’s my favourite.
GGG: What is coming up next for Gourmet Gaming?
D: I often can’t plan too far ahead with what I’m making . A lot of great requests come through or a game is released that changes what I had in mind. But for the 4 weeks coming up to Christmas I’ll be revealing festive gaming recipes so you can create a Christmas feast entirely from video game food – if you’re as crazy as me that is.
GGG: What are some of your favorite video game characters?
D: I was talking recently about my favourite game side-kicks actually, my top two being Homunculus (Shadow of Memories) and King Seeker Frampt (Dark Souls). I’ve been a life long fan of Lara Croft and love James Sunderland in Silent Hill 2. Also Saavedro in Myst III: Exile is completely awesome because let’s face it, he’s played by Brad Dourif.
GGG: Game of the year?
D: Definitely Dark Souls, it’s practically perfect in my eyes as far as games go. The story, the characters and the game-play – it’s a beautiful piece of work that I hope will be appreciated and reflected upon in years to come. A serious pinnacle in gaming history.
GGG: What else are you a fangirl for?
D: I love graphics novels; I’m a big fan of Dan Clowes and Charles Burns. We’re also almost overrun in our apartment with the amount of films we own, it’s like an episode of ‘Hoarders’ in here. I also read way too many Philip K. Dick novels.
GGG: If you had to live in a video game for a month, which would it be and why?
D: I’d like to live in Viva Pinata. I could play with the animals and then whenever I got hungry I could smack one of those bad boys open and chow down.
GGG: Where can we find you in the interwebs?
I’m also planning to have a little store with some merchandise and goodies in the near future so keep an eye out!
Sometimes I don’t even understand what I wrote on my map it’s so sloppy… Okay most of the time.

So this is less funny and more sad, but here you go anyway!
I’m going to go out on a limb and say this girl is probably the biggest bully in her school. Her future doesn’t look too bright either… #BadParenting101
