When I first wandered onto Ketchupize during one of my weekly Etsy binges, I kind of lost my mind a little at her amazing items. Tina hand-paints absolutely incredible headphones, sunglasses and phone cases. When it comes to geek merch, it’s hard to find something new and interesting that makes you excited and I felt that excitement again when I look at Ketchupize’s Etsy shop. Tina’s shop features everything from Super Mario Bros. and galaxy sunglasses, to a pokeball and companion cube headphones.
It literally took me a few weeks to narrow down and decide on which item to buy and review. I finally decided on the companion cube headphones for obvious reasons. I waited for the package like a kid waiting for Santa. When my companion cube headphones arrived I literally did a little happy dance. The hand-painted companion cube is damn near perfect. They are extra special because I know that someone spent time painting the details by hand. That someone being Tina. Other than being very pretty to look at, the headphones are great quality and sound.
Interview with Tina of Ketchupize Etsy Shop
Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
My name is Tina, I’m a graphic designer and I live in Greece. I love music, video games, sci-fi movies, comics and all kinds of geeky things my parents thought I would grow out of when I reached 16!
How did the Ketchupize Etsy shop come to be?
It all started about two years ago. I wanted to create a unique gift for someone special. It was a pair of headphones and I decided to paint it. The whole process was so much fun and I loved the result. That’s how Ketchupize was born. It allows me to combine all the things I love and it’s really fulfilling, designing functional products for people who appreciate uniqueness and want something different and fun!
I know you do custom pieces for customers, have you had any favorite or unusual requests?
One of my favorite requests was a pair of ”video games” themed headphones. I was contacted by a girl who wanted some custom headphones inspired from her favorite video games. They were some of my favorite video games too so it became more of a personal project and it was so much fun to make.
Are there any upcoming designs you’re looking forward to creating?
I try to come up with new designs as often as I can as it keeps things fun and interesting. My sunglasses line became quite popular during the summer so I thought of customizing normal glasses too. I’m currently working on new designs so I’m looking forward to that, hopefully they’ll be a big hit!
What are some of your favorite geeky obsessions?
My favorite geeky obsession is gaming. I’ve been a gamer since I was allowed near a computer or console. Through the years I’ve tried all kinds of different games and no matter how busy I am I always make time for that. Lately I’ve been playing Diablo 3 and I’m really looking forward to trying all classes in the new Guild Wars 2!
If you were on a deserted island what video game, comic/book, movie, TV show would you bring?
I’d bring my ”Big Bang Theory” box set! It’s my favorite tv series. It’s so brilliantly made I can watch all seasons over and over again and it always makes me laugh.

I grew up watching the original Pokémon series. I’d be glued to the TV singing along with gusto, “I’m going to be the very best, like no one ever was!”. And dramatically reciting the Team Rocket motto along with Jessie, James and of course Meowth.
Well our dear little television show about cute (and not so cute) pocket monsters has grown to epic proportions. Pokémon is the second most successful and lucrative video game-based media franchise in the world, behind only Super Mario Bros. series.
With that in mind, it should come to no surprise the massive amounts of Poké-ink etched into the skins of die-hard fans. I found a ton of Pokémon tattoos this week and narrowed them down to my favorites (yes I have a lot of favorites). I found a great Pokémon sleeve I wanted to include but EleventhDimension on Deviant Art specifically wrote that she didn’t want her images taken or used so I have to respect that. However, here are links so you can still check it out (here here here and here) and I keep my good conscience.
I include all the information about the tattoo that was available. If you are interested in having me feature your geeky tattoo on a future Tattoo Tuesday feel free to email me at girlgonegeekblog[at]gmail.com.
