Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m living in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. At my day job I’m a creative director for an ad agency. At nights I’m designing my own stuff.
How long have you been making art?
Since I can hold a pencil. Off course it wasn’t art then, but drawing and making my thoughts visual was allways my thing.
Where do you get the inspiration for all of your art?
I never about inspiration. For me being creative is a craft, it isn’t about being inspired. Just starting and making things. It is like Yoda told Luke: “Do or do not, there is no try”. Inspiration has nothing to do with making art.
Frame950-No144-My-AKIRA-minimal-movie-posterHow would you describe your artistic style?
When I started out designing, I strongly belied that “Less is bore”. Ironically, these days the majority of my work is about minimalism. So less is more, but I could not do it without that little devil on my shoulder telling me again and again: “Less is bore”, “Less is bore”. It keeps me sharp.
Favorite artists?
These day’s: Thierry Guetta aka Mr. Brainwash. Confusing and controversial, how much artist can you handle.
Do you have plans for any upcoming series?
They come as the go. Whenever I feel the need to make some.
Which film, book, game or show would you want to live in for one month?
One month, no more, as a vacation. Middle earth. I kind of like living where I’am right now.
If you were on a deserted island what would video game, comic/book, movie, TV show would you bring?
Just some crayons and whitepaper. Nice low-tech stuff.
Where can we find you in the web?

Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story

I love zombies and musicals, but never in my wildest dreams did I think someone would create a zombie musical! Rigamortis: A Zombie Love Story is just what you’d image a zombie musical would be campy, bloody, funny and of course an obligatory “Thriller’ish” dance. If you liked Dr. Horrible or Reefer Madness then Rigamortis is definitely worth a shot (no pun intended… okay it was intended).

“After humanity quells an undead uprising, the last two remaining zombies pair up in search of sanctuary, but instead find love.

Rigamortis takes place shortly after humanity has put down a recent zombie outbreak.  The last two zombies left “undead” are looking for their place in the world, while one lonely zombie hunter’s newfound fame and glory can’t fill the hole in his heart left by the recent loss of his now undead love. The characters are forced to confront zombies, angry mobs, double-barreled shotguns, and an ever-dangerous thing called love, until fate brings them all face to face in an explosive finale.[Rigamortismovie.com]”

This musical gives me a tinge of guilt now that I think back to every zombie I shot in the head assuming it wanted my brains but it might have just wanted… love. This 40 minute low-budget musical is available to watch in full length for a limited time via YouTube. Who knew the undead could carry a tune?!

Picture of the Week- Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 comes out midnight on Thursday Nov. 18th and of course I’ll be in line with the other muggles and a cup of Butter Beer to keep me warm.  It’s only fitting to have this weeks Picture of the Week dedicated to Potter and pals.

The image I decided to feature is the Deathly Hallows symbol which is simple and to the point.

“The symbol of the Deathly Hallows. The vertical line represents the Elder Wand; the circle, the Resurrection Stone; and the triangle, the Cloak of Invisibility” (Harry Potter Wiki).

Breathers: A Zombie Lament

Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer’s Body, United States of Tara) is set to produce the adaptation of the zom rom com (zombie romantic comedy) novel Breathers: A Zombie’s Lament by S.G. Browne.  The screenplay was written by Geoff LaTulippe (Going the Distance).  Rumor has it that Joseph Gordon-Levitt (newest Hollywood it-boy who deserves it) and Scarlett Johansson (who makes up for her lack of acting skills with curves and good looks) are going to star in the film.

Breathers info via Screen Rant:

Breathers tells the tale of a regular man named Andy (presumably Gordon-Levitt’s role) who is resurrected and returns to the world of the living as a zombie.  Society as a whole is prejudiced against Andy’s kind and the undead gentleman is therefore forced to find his way in a world that denies him even the most basic of human rights.  Johansson would assumedly play Andy’s human love interest, Rita.”

Now if you still have a bad taste left in your mouth brain from Jennifer’s Body, remember Cody is only producing this zombie romantic comedy.  The director is still up in the air so I hope that JGL and ScarJo will attract a prominent director.

PS- I Love Zombies!

Picture of the Week (8/23)

So I’ve decided to start doing a “Picture of the Week” forever-long series.  Well (if it wasn’t completely obvious by the title) I will be posting a picture every week and I’ll keep it on the right hand side of the page in a widget for the week.

This weeks picture I found on RadDad’s Tumblr (which is awesome btw) and he’s also on twitter @RadDadRich (and so am I).  Darth Vader lights his cigarette the only way bad-mother-shut-yo-mouth villains do.  The picture is bad ass beyond words!  If I had a real light saber I’d make s’mores and light candles like this.
