E3 2011- Nintendo Press Conference and Wii U Details

Nintendo had the biggest news of E3 this year, the reveal of Wii U the successor of the Wii. The high-definition Wii U has a new controller that includes not only traditional controls but a touch-screen, speakers and a camera. Users can play games on their TV, the controller or sometimes both.

After a few Nintendo consoles didn’t have adequate third-party support Nintendo made it a point to highlight games for the Wii U such as  LEGO City Stories and Darksiders II. There are also games that appeal to more serious gamers that tend to buy the more mature games and not the casual Wii Fit crowd such as Batman: Arkham City, Assassin’s Creed and a few EA sports titles.Wii U will be released sometime between April and December 2012 and not much concrete information about big first-party games except for a Smash Bros. game for the Wii U and the 3DS.

The rest of the press conference focused on the 3DS and upcoming games like Kid Icarus: UprisingMario KartSuper Mario, and Starfox were all promised, as well as the appearance of Luigi’s Mansion 2. And the much anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the Wii was promised a holiday 2011 release date.
