Sci-fi, Video Game, & Star Wars Burlesque Show

The Devil’s Playground Ladies in LA bring us yet another geek infused Burlesque Show, this time it’s your favorite Sci-Fi women.  They previously did a Star Wars show and Video Game girls show, which are also in the gallery.  I hope they do anime girls next (Faye Valentine I’m looking at you!).  And how about a male version for us geek girls?!

Ever wanted to see Pris from Blade Runner do a strip tease? Devil’s Playground returned to Bordello for its monthly burlesque and cabaret show, this time with Ladies of Sci-Fi Burlesque, featuring characters inspired by Pris from Blade Runner, Ripley from the Alien franchise, Maria from Metropolis, Aeon Flux, Barbarella and Metroid‘s Samus Aran. Some images may be NSFW. Catch the ladies again on October 9 for Scream Queens Burlesque. – LAWeekly

Star Wars Voices Available For Your GPS

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away… you got lost.  But fear no more Jedi (or Sith) because now you can have the Star Wars characters guide you through your quest no matter how mundane thanks to TomTom!

With this (fairly) new TomTom GPS initiative you can have the voices of Darth Vader, C-3PO, Han Solo and Yoda accompany you on whatever journey you embark.  Sorry Chewy you didn’t make the cut for obvious reasons.  The voices make your routine trip to the mall sound like an adventure of epic proportions.  This definitely makes me wish I had a car… but maybe I should get a license first.

Listen to voice samples and buy them on TomTom they cost $12.95 each character.

These videos of Yoda and Darth Vader in the recording studio are hilarious!

Star Wars takes the NYC Subway

Improv Everywhere takes over a NYC subway car again! This time they reenact the first Princess Leia and Darth Vader scene from “Star Wars”. I wish I was on that train ride. And of course it’s on the 6 train which is I train I take to go home! All I ever see are the usual beggars, “singers”, crazies, vain young men doing pull ups on the bars, and little kids selling candy for their “basketball team”.

It’s great to see the passengers are getting a kick out of it, since New Yorkers usually wear the “minding-my-business-and-you-should-too” stone cold face on subways. Color me guilty. I especially like the “Galactic Takeover for Dummies” Princess Leia is reading. Is that for sale in Barnes and Nobles? If not it should be.

Improv Everywhere also did the No-Pants Subway Ride, Frozen Grand Central, Food Court the Musical, and staged a scene from “Ghostbusters” in the New York Public Library… *sigh* where am I when all this awesomeness commences?

The Vader Project

I stumbled across “The Vader Project” on Kanye’s blog.  For four years 100 artists were asked to remix a 1:1 scale replica of Darth Vader’s helmet.  There was a final ten-day exhibition in at Hollywood and ending tomorrow July 10th you will be able to big on these ridiculously awesome Vader helmets at Freeman’s Auction in Philadelphia.  But be warned the lowest they start at is $3,000.

For more info you can check out “The Vader Project” website which is extremely underwhelming.  Or check out all 100 at Freeman’s Auction and flickr.

Check out the slideshow below for a few of my favs.
