‘Adventure Time’ Dress Giveaway from HalloweenCostumes.com

girl gone geek blog finn dress adventure time

Have you seen a more mathematical dress before?! I received this Finn tunic from the fine folks over at Halloween Costumes to review and I’m in love. It’s described a tunic tank, but fits more like a dress that you could wear with or without jeans, leggings or tights. What I love most about this is that I can rock my Adventure Time love in a girly way. Shirts are cool of course, (trust me I have tons!) but I love flaunting my obsessions with a dress or skirt. These Adventure Time tunic/dresses are a super cute way to show off your Land of OOO citizenship!

Tattoo Tuesday- Hayao Miyazaki Films

This past Sunday was my 200th post here on Girl Gone Geek Blog and I decided to celebrate by having a giveaway.  I will be giving away a Kodama decal, all you have to do is go here and tell me what your favorite Miyazaki film is and why, that’s it!  I will be chosing the winner Sunday, November 14th.  Tell your friends!

Staying in the Miyazaki moment, (because honestly how could you not the man is a genius!) this weeks Tattoo Tuesday theme is Miyazaki movies!  A majority of the tattoos I found were Princess Mononoke, which is my favorite.  If you are wondering where Totoro is don’t fret!  I previously did a Totoro Tattoo Tuesday which you can see here.

I <3 Hayao Miyazaki.  Watching his anime films tickle my soul.

Totoro Tattoo Tuesday

I LOVEHayao Miyazaki and if you have heart and a soul you do too!  For those of you who don’t know Miyazaki (you clearly aren’t from this planet) he is often compared to being the Walt Disney of Japan and his career has spanned over 50 years.  He’s made incredible movies through Studio Ghibli, which he also co-founded.  One of his films, Princess Mononoke, was the highest grossing film in Japan until Titanic trumped it in 1997.  Other prominent films (even though they all are prominent) are Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro,Ponyo and so much more.

Most of his movies have similar themes although very different and imaginative story lines.

“Miyazaki’s films often incorporate recurrent themes, such as humanity’s relationship to nature and technology, and the difficulty of maintaining a pacifist ethic. Reflecting Miyazaki’s feminism, the protagonists of his films are often strong, independent girls or young women. His films are also notable for dispensing with traditional villains in favour of morally ambiguous antagonists presented with redeeming qualities.(wiki)”

If you haven’t seen his movies I hereby declare it your life’s’ mission to buy them, rent them, find them now and indulge yourself in the glorious world of Miyazaki!  But first check out these My Neighbor Totoro tattoos! Oh and Totoro made a cameo in Toy Story 3!
