Interview with Lauren of Miniature Literature

GGG: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

lauren miniature literatureLauren: I’m a craft enthusiast, Disney nerd, and dedicated flosser. I’m currently in school for Toy Design, which is just as fun as you’d think it’d be.

How long have you been making jewelry?

If you count the paper clip necklaces I would make in my dad’s office as a tot, a long, long time. I started making my own jewelry in high school when I couldn’t find anything to match my outfit, and started my first Etsy store, LB Yours, over my Christmas break last year.

How did Miniature Literature come to be

I don’t know if you’ve ever read (or seen) Roald Dahl’s Matilda, but that was me when I was little (except my principal never locked me in any pokey room), and I haven’t changed much since. I love a good story and the feeling of being snatched up and taken away to someplace else in one. Somewhat conversely, I suppose, I love jewelry, fashion, etc., and I always have a hard time finding pieces that I think are unique. I wanted to make something that told a story. And here I am!

If you had to live in any book for one month, which would it be and why? The Hobbit J.R.R. Tolkien Necklace

What an awesome question! Of course I’d love to go to Hogwarts, but I’m going to have to go with Alice In Wonderland. If you’re going to live in a book, you might as well make it one that’s as far from reality as possible.

Do you have any (other) geeky obsessions? If so what?

I am quite the Disnerd. I’m at Disneyland just about every weekend. This last Halloween, I dressed up as Space Mountain. Not as a cast member- as the actual ride. I made a light up dress and hat that looked just like the building and, I’ve gotta say, it turned out pretty great.

Also, I do love a good video game. I can beat anyone at Mortal Kombat (my girl’s Mileena).

And have you heard Kingdom Hearts 3 is on its way?! *squeal*

If you were on a deserted island what video game, comic/book, movie, TV show would you bring?

Best deserted island ever- where can I buy my ticket? I’m bringing my trusty Sega Genesis, and every episode of Bob’s Burgers and/or The Golden Girls. Is it cool if I also bring my microwave for some Toaster Strudel action?

Where do you live on the internet?

You can find me all over the place! Of course there’s my two Etsy stores, MiniatureLiterature  and  LByours. There’s also my Pinterest or my Facebook ShopLByours!

Giveaway over, congrats Joanna!

  2. LOVE these! So cute. Do we enter the contest here? I’m gonna….
My biography would be called “Life, Love, and the Pursuit of Nerdery” ;)

  3. Well I think my title of my biography would be: the life of a fangirl and artist by Melissa Zirkle :0)
I hope I win the harry potter necklace is so cut :0)

  4. Adorable! Totally adding these shops to my favorites.

Oh! And my biography would probably be something like “Adventures in Fangirling.” Lol.

  5. I have just started the feeling the hot flashes that come from being not so young anymore, so right now I think “Fahrenheit 451” would be a good biography title. Lol.

I love your work and think I will be asking for my loved ones to order some for me for Christmas.

  6. Biography name….”Everyone wears underwear with holes in them don’t they” woman’s journey through life and self esteem.

  7. If I had a biography it would be named The Hidden Girl Within because I maybe quiet at times but inside there is a girl who is fierce and loves a challenge

  8. the title of my biography would be, “The Magic in the Muggle World” .ps, your stuff is awesome, please don’t think i am kissing up to you, I just like to tell people if i think what they make is amazing.

  9. These are so awesome!! My favorite is the Moby Dick one since I spent an eon reading through that book–a labor of love. The book title of my life would be:

Ignoble Human: The Life, Science, and Art of Second Chances
    {a whimsical and heart-warming tale}

    That, or:

Cocker Spaniel vs. Italian Greyhound: My Life History Across Continents
    {a deep-digging glimpse into European immigration and how I am who I am}
This is fun. I could go all day!

  10. These are ADORABLE!!!! I might have to add some to my wishlist.

My biography would be called: “And then everybody laughed: the life & times of a geek on the run”

I’m Probably Not An Android Because Sometimes I Poop: But I’ve Never Seen Video Of My Birth and Human Emotions Are Weird*

  13. Snapped…Moments Frozen In Time.
Because if i every do write a biography it will be about how I achieved my photography goals in life.

  14. My biography would be called:

    “A Life Well Lived”

A story that will make you laugh, cry, and remind you not to worry about the small stuff.

  15. The title of my biography would be “The Tales of Palm Lane”
Even if it sounds relaxing and soothing, the street on which I grew up on is far from that. Think more of an ominous feel because unexpected things always seemed to happen on that street. Very few people ever stayed more than a year. I was one of the few who witnessed the true events that transpired on the dim street named Palm Lane.

  16. Perhaps it would be called “Drifter”, or “The Round-about Route”. I’d probably find a better title later when my life has played out more.
