Interview with Lauren of Miniature Literature

GGG: Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

lauren miniature literatureLauren: I’m a craft enthusiast, Disney nerd, and dedicated flosser. I’m currently in school for Toy Design, which is just as fun as you’d think it’d be.

How long have you been making jewelry?

If you count the paper clip necklaces I would make in my dad’s office as a tot, a long, long time. I started making my own jewelry in high school when I couldn’t find anything to match my outfit, and started my first Etsy store, LB Yours, over my Christmas break last year.

How did Miniature Literature come to be

I don’t know if you’ve ever read (or seen) Roald Dahl’s Matilda, but that was me when I was little (except my principal never locked me in any pokey room), and I haven’t changed much since. I love a good story and the feeling of being snatched up and taken away to someplace else in one. Somewhat conversely, I suppose, I love jewelry, fashion, etc., and I always have a hard time finding pieces that I think are unique. I wanted to make something that told a story. And here I am!

If you had to live in any book for one month, which would it be and why? The Hobbit J.R.R. Tolkien Necklace

What an awesome question! Of course I’d love to go to Hogwarts, but I’m going to have to go with Alice In Wonderland. If you’re going to live in a book, you might as well make it one that’s as far from reality as possible.

Do you have any (other) geeky obsessions? If so what?

I am quite the Disnerd. I’m at Disneyland just about every weekend. This last Halloween, I dressed up as Space Mountain. Not as a cast member- as the actual ride. I made a light up dress and hat that looked just like the building and, I’ve gotta say, it turned out pretty great.

Also, I do love a good video game. I can beat anyone at Mortal Kombat (my girl’s Mileena).

And have you heard Kingdom Hearts 3 is on its way?! *squeal*

If you were on a deserted island what video game, comic/book, movie, TV show would you bring?

Best deserted island ever- where can I buy my ticket? I’m bringing my trusty Sega Genesis, and every episode of Bob’s Burgers and/or The Golden Girls. Is it cool if I also bring my microwave for some Toaster Strudel action?

Where do you live on the internet?

You can find me all over the place! Of course there’s my two Etsy stores, MiniatureLiterature  and  LByours. There’s also my Pinterest or my Facebook ShopLByours!

Giveaway over, congrats Joanna!

  15. The title of my biography would be “The Tales of Palm Lane”
Even if it sounds relaxing and soothing, the street on which I grew up on is far from that. Think more of an ominous feel because unexpected things always seemed to happen on that street. Very few people ever stayed more than a year. I was one of the few who witnessed the true events that transpired on the dim street named Palm Lane.

  16. Perhaps it would be called “Drifter”, or “The Round-about Route”. I’d probably find a better title later when my life has played out more.
